The Stray Sod is a family run pub, with long serving loyal staff offering a polite and friendly service to our customers, located on the northern point of Irelands Ancient East. Built in the Millennium year serving the local community and passing trade on the long route strategically situated on the R188 Cavan-Cootehill road. We look forward to serving those on the proposed route for the National East/West Road Link connecting Dundalk and Sligo.
Dining
Our dining area is situated at ground level and part of an open plan lounge where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner from our exclusive menu. Our upstairs function room with side bar is available on request to cater for all types of private events such as Special Occasion Birthday’s, First Communion’s, Confirmation’s, Wedding after-parties and Funeral meals, along with Business and Local Community meetings. The Stray Sod has also become a welcoming meeting point for Hen & Stag party drinks or for after-event breakfast.
Our lounge bar has become a frequent meeting place for family and friends both near and far, with its friendly atmosphere, cosy stove fire during the winter months and Satellite TV available for sporting events. We give a warm welcome to our amazing local community and friends returning home on visits from abroad.
Parking
Parking is available on the premises with an overflow area at our local shop, adjacent to The Stray Sod.
The local CIE Bus Service (Monaghan – Cootehill – Cavan) return route, passes through Drung Monday-Friday, with the bus stop adjacent to The Stray Sod.
